Important News about The Sims 2 "Jump Bug"

Everyone who missed the discussion in the SimsHost Hullabaloo will want to know this!

If you are have having problems with your sims jumping out of interactions, they are suffering from the nefarious "Jump Bug". The bug is triggered when your sims accumulate so many memories that some internal buffer overwrites something else in the game. Your sims will jump out of any interaction that involves chatting, such as sitting at the dinner table, relaxing in bed together, conversing the hot tub, and so on.

This bug is especially frustrating because it will affect your favorite sims. Since those are the sims that you play the most, they have accumlated the most memories. Don't despair; there is a cure for the "Jump Bug!"

J.M.Pescado posted a simple patch that fixes this problem. You can download it from a thread at Mod The Sims 2. It changes the characters' chat interactions to resemble The Sims, but it does make your favorite characters playable again!

In related news, Electronic Arts announced on November 19 that they are in the final stages of certification of a patch that will fix the Jump Bug along with a large list of other bugs in the orignal game. See Sims2.com's news article for that date.
