SimsHost Chronicle
Be Sure to Activate Your Subscription One of the key features we deployed on January 1, 2005 is non-subscriber downloads. This new feature allows you to create and fund your SimsHost account, and download things without committing to a continuing subscription. Instead, your account is charged a premium for each download. Non-subscriber downloads are a good solution if you only want to download a couple of things a month, but if you expect to download much more than that, you will want to activate your subscription. Subscribers are only charged the incredibly low bandwidth fee for their downloads, which is still only a few pennies for even the largest files. So if you expect to download more than a couple of things each month, be sure to activate your subscription. Just click on the link to Maintain Your Account at the left. If your subscription is inactive you will find a note about it near the top of the page and a link where you can activate it. The Sims Forever We have been highlighting the sites that have downloads for The Sims 2 ever since the new game came out, but now with the majority of the artists concentrating mostly on The Sims 2 we are encountering a frequently asked question, Is anyone supporting The Sims 1 any more? What the artists create is entirely up to them, but it turns out that the answer is most assuredly YES! It might be easy to overlook them among the incredible volume of goodies for The Sims 2, but in almost every week's Chronicle you will find more new items for The Sims 1 than the high-priced sites offer in a month. Don't miss the Art Deco Living Room from It's Simply Similicious in this week's issue. Here are few more updates for The Sims 1 that you will want to know about if you didn't catch them as they went by in previous issues of The SimsHost Chronicle. Undoubtedly the largest single update for The Sims 1 in recent times was the opening of Sim Snobs Themes, announced in Chronicle #113. Then there was Dincer Hepguler's Neoclassic Bedroom Set at the SimsHost Exchange in Chronicle #104. Just one small set that alone is worth the cost of a SimsHost subscription. And finally, Norma Jean's Roadside Diner from Artistic Habitats has more than two hundred objects for The Sims 1. The set includes many hacked objects including celebrity NPC's with their own custom animations that will have you in stitches! It was announced in Chronicle #107 and it makes it worth your while to start up the original game again, even if you have become a dedicated fan of The Sims 2!

With your one SimsHost account, you support the hosting costs for all the sites we host and enjoy new additions that continue to surpass all the stand-alone subscription sites combined with your one low-cost subscription to SimsHost! That's why we created SimsHost in June 2002 when we ran out resources to host sites for free on the Moon Sims server, and it's working great! More than two years ago we opened with two dozen founding sites. On that day, SimsHost instantaneously became by far the largest Sims site in the world offering the best value in subscription sites. Today we host more than seventy fantastic sites, the sites are bigger, and the service just keeps getting better! Taken collectively, the SimsHosted sites are still the largest site the The Sims in the world, yet we continue to be able to bring all these sites to you at a cost that's half what you have to pay for the least expensive stand-alone sites. Our heartfelt thanks to all our subscribers, webmasters, and artists for making 2004 such a wonderful year! We will continue to endeavor to make the next year even better for you!
